Welcome

The Coalition Organized for Reliable Energy (CORE) supports improvements to the Wisconsin transmission system that are needed to ensure the delivery of reliable, low-cost electricity to Wisconsin customers.

CORE was organized in 2006 in support of an improvement to the electric power grid for Dane County’s growing economy.  CORE supported the need for the Rockdale-West Middleton 345 kV line, which was approved by the Public Service Commission in the summer of 2009 and is currently being constructed.

Today, the coalition is built around a diverse group of local and statewide organizations with a direct stake in Wisconsin energy issues. CORE members recognize that a robust electrical grid is an indispensable element in keeping the lights on and improving access to a diverse, competitive array of electrical supply sources for users.

After two years of study, American Transmission Co. (ATC) announced that a 345 kV transmission line, Badger Coulee, from the La Crosse area to Dane County will provide multiple benefits to Wisconsin electric consumers.  These benefits include improved electric system reliability, economic savings for Wisconsin utilities and electric consumers, and improved access to a diverse portfolio of competitive energy resources.

In keeping with its mission to improve Wisconsin’s energy infrastructure, CORE intends to support the need for the proposed Badger Coulee project.

CORE will continue to represent the thousands of Wisconsin business and residents that will benefit from an improved transmission infrastructure by presenting a unified voice for energy improvements and providing opportunities for members to participate in the ongoing planning and public outreach activities for the Badger Coulee project.
